Tips to Effectively Remove Tar Stains on Your Carpet

Carpets bring a unique element of both beauty and comfort in your home. But in order for you to enjoy having a nice carpet in your home, you should exert the proper effort in trying to get it nice and clean.

There are a lot of cleaning problems that can really sully your carpet and ruin its look and appearance. One example of a tough carpet cleaning problem is having tar stains on your carpet. Tar is never a substance that you want to get on your carpet but unfortunately there are instances when accidents and mishaps occur and results in this kind of mess.

Cleaning up tar on your carpet can be very difficult but it doesn’t always have to be that way. Here are some easy steps that you can follow in order to clean up this carpet cleaning problem.

Remove as much of the tar on your carpet by using a paper towel to blot the affected area. Make sure that you do not rub or wipe the tar as this will only result in you making the problem much worse.

Tar can be really tricky to remove. In order to remove the tar stain from your carpet you should use a cleaning solution to fight the stain. You can use rubbing alcohol also to help break down the stubborn tar stain.

Apply some rubbing alcohol on a piece of cotton and then dab the affected area with it. Do this continuously until the cotton ball dries up. Before you do this ensure that you test out the rubbing alcohol on an inconspicuous part of the carpet first to make sure that it is safe to use.

Next you must make a cleaning solution that will help in removing the stain. Use a teaspoon of non-bleach laundry detergent mixed with 3 cups of water onto the stain. This solution will be useful in removing the stain. After applying it onto the stain, let it set for about three minutes before moving on to the next step.

Use a clean white cloth to blot the carpet continuously. Do this until the entire stain is gone. The tar stain may take several attempts before you can get it out but what’s important is that you don’t give up that easily.

Get a cup of cool water and then pour it onto the stain. This helps in getting rid of any residue that could stay behind on your carpet. Dry the area thoroughly before using the carpet once more.
